Quick Milk Bread

This light and fluffy, quick milk bread is super easy and quick to make. Save some effort and use your bread machine to knead and proof the dough for you. Or it you prefer to work the dough by hand, both options are written out to suit anyone's preferences. The texture of this bread is light and fluffy and pairs well with any dish.

Quick Milk Bread

Ingredients:

5 Cups All Purpose Flour

3 Tsp Instant Yeast

1 1/2 Tsp Salt

4 Tbsp Sugar

1/4 Cup Melted Butter

2 Cups Warm Milk

Egg Wash - 1 egg and 1 tbsp water combined

Directions:

If using a bread machine to mix and proof your dough:

  • Add all your dry ingredients followed by the wet ingredients and set to the dough cycle.

  • Preheat the oven to 375 F

  • Once the dough is complete, remove the dough and divide into 2 loaves on a lightly floured surface.

  • * Shape and place on a large cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.

  • Score 3 lines into the tops of each loaf. Then cover and allow to rest 5 to 10 minutes

  • Brush tops of loaves with egg wash.

  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes on the middle rack.

  • Remove to a cooling rack and allow to cool before slicing.

If kneading the dough by hand:

  • Mix all your dry ingredients together first in a large bowl then add your wet into the dry. Mix it all together until it has come together. Turn out onto a floured surface and continue to work the dough for 5 minutes until the dough is stretchy and does not tear easily.

  • Once the dough is ready, place it in a greased bowl and grease the top of your dough as well. Tightly cover with plastic wrap and let rest in a warm place for 25 minutes.

  • After the dough has rested, resume directions as described above where the star * is.
